Grants avaible for single mothers that don’t cost money to apply for?

i recently became a single mother and was left with my 3yr old girl. and no place to stay, I work a full time job but with all the bills i was left with i still can’t make ends meet. I have looked for help with grants for single moms, but all these websites expect money for the applications, if i had the money in the first place i wouldn’t need a grant. not to mention how confusing they are. my main goal here is to get a better place to live for my child and go back to school, and get on with my life.
